• There are several styles of bridal bouquet that can be created for the biggest day of a woman’s life and no matter how big or small, fancy or simple they are, there is one thing that will generally have in common and this is the bridal bouquet ribbon that binds them together.

For some, a ribbon is not of great importance for their bridal bouquet and is generally hidden from view by making it the same colour as the bouquet, or by hiding it under a cloud of beautifully set flowers. However, for others, it is a statement piece, used to add a little something extra to the bouquet and make with just as much thought and deliberation as the flowers themselves.

Although a simple tool, a bridal bouquet ribbon is the one thing that keeps these flowers together. It is normally used to conceal tape or other such materials, which are holding the flowers in place; to whatever style the bride has chosen. However, it can be seen or not seen; depending on the bride to be’s specifications. For those that have a tall bridal bouquet, the ribbon can be wrapped around the whole of the stem of the flowers to ensure that they are held securely and also look great. This could be green to match the stems and therefore concealed, or the colour of the flowers to add a little something extra to an already beautiful bridal bouquet. This is a particularly good idea for flowers such as roses, where tiny thorns may still be present on the stems. Blood on a wedding dress is really not a good look and by using bridal bouquet ribbon, this worry can be eliminated to some degree.

If the bride has chosen a large bridal bouquet then the ribbon used to bind the flowers together can be styled to add more effect to it. It can be curled into tight knit ringlets to hang down from the flowers, or crimped for a slightly more modern look. It can also be used to create the same style of tendrils hanging down from the flowers as the bride’s hair that shows that a lot of thought and effort has gone into the big day. It doesn’t stop here however, it can be tied into a beautiful bow to really add a sense of occasion to the bridal bouquet and also intricately wound around certain parts of the bouquet itself. This is all very much dependant on the bride’s specifications.

Whatever the style of wedding and bridal bouquet, bridal bouquet ribbon will be needed to ensure that the flowers do not simply fall apart in the hands. However, in order for it to look good as well, it can be styled to match the bride’s requirements and this is why it is such a good thing to have to hand during the big day. (Having a little spare somewhere wouldn’t go a miss as well!) It is down to the bride which option she chooses for her bridal bouquet, but it must be suggested that the bridal bouquet ribbon not be dismissed as an essential but thought of as much of an added luxury to an already beautiful bouquet.
